Faith that Moves

Faith that Moves: Stop Talking, Start Walking

Show your faith by joining in the work of God.

Scripture: James 2:14–26

Most of us don’t think twice about trusting a GPS.
We type in a destination, hit Start, and follow the voice, even when we can’t see what’s ahead.

But when God says, “Forgive,” “Serve,” “Give,” or “Go,” we hesitate.

We’ll trust a GPS made by people more easily than the God who made people.

James reminds us that real faith doesn’t just talk, it moves.

Faith isn’t proven by what we say we believe but by how we walk in obedience to the One giving directions.

To show our faith, we must join in the work God is already doing.

1. Real Faith Leads to Action (vv. 14–18)

Faith that doesn’t move isn’t real faith.
James says, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

Real faith is proven, not just pronounced — it shows up in how we live and serve.

It’s compassionate, not complacent — meeting needs, showing mercy, and loving people like Jesus.

Our actions don’t earn God’s love; they express it.

2. Real Faith Trusts the God It Believes In (v. 19)

James warns that even demons believe God exists — but they don’t trust Him.

Belief alone isn’t enough; real faith rests in the One who leads.

Like trusting a GPS, faith means moving when God speaks, even when we can’t see the full route.

It’s not just saying, “I believe the parachute works,” but strapping it on and jumping, trusting that His love will hold you.

3. Real Faith Partners with God (vv. 20–26)

Faith isn’t passive — it’s a partnership.
Abraham obeyed; Rahab acted. Their faith came alive through their works.

When we step into what God is doing — serving, giving, forgiving — we’re throwing our branch into His fire.

The fire doesn’t need us to burn, but when we join it, we become part of something alive and eternal.

Real faith doesn’t just sit near the fire, it steps in, glows, and joins God’s work in the world.

After the Amen:

1. Where is God asking you to trust His “voice” even when you can’t see the full route ahead?

2. What’s one area of your faith that needs action right now, a relationship, a habit, or a calling?

3. How can you show compassion this week to someone in need — not just with words, but with action?

4. How might joining in God’s work (serving, giving, forgiving) deepen your faith and shape your legacy?

Thank you pastor! These messages have really beena blessing that make me really concentrate on the word and understand that faith involves more than just showing up on Sunday, reading the word but it also involves action, doing something to help others helping others. Witness in your walk daily!

Thank you so much! I’m grateful to hear how the messages are helping you grow. That’s exactly it, faith comes alive when we live it out daily and let others see Christ through our actions. Keep walking it out!
